There are a number of “free” Windows management tools at your disposal, such as Group Policy and scripts. The only problem with free things is that you often get what you paid for.
For example, have you ever run a script against 5,000 computers, only to have number 1,941 fail and bring the whole script to a screeching halt?
Have you ever run a script against 5,000 systems, only to find out that something was failing? But you had no idea what, because there was no documentation?
Group Policy also has its issues. For instance, has it ever failed to apply your settings and generated an error that says “.”? Have you ever set a script to run via Group Policy, only to find out that the machines were not rebooted on time and that was the reason your network was infected with a virus?
RED Systems Management addresses all of these issues and more. It’s a multi-threaded tool, meaning that if any system(s) should fail during its operation, the failure will not affect the job running. RED Systems Management will tell you the reason for the failure (such as error 53, network path not found) and allow you to retry the operation on those systems.
When you need to schedule and force a reboot, RED Systems Management can do it and log the result. If the operation wasn’t successful, it can tell you why. RED Systems Management can also force updates to required systems at any time, meaning you don’t have to wait for them to reboot to secure your network.
All of this functionality is included, and accomplished without the use of agents.
